CONGRATULATIONS RON ARNDT!

Leader. This word was used by several people to describe Ron Arndt, Director of the Northern Colorado Regional Crime Lab, at Wednesday’s board meeting retirement recognition. He is retiring after eight plus years of service to Weld County and 31 years in the forensic science industry. Under the leadership of Arndt, the Northern Colorado Regional Crime Lab opened in 2013, and has been nationally recognized by receiving the August Vollmer Excellence in Forensic Science Award in 2011. This award was created to honor the proactive and innovative use of forensic technologies by law enforcement. The lab houses conference and meeting rooms, laboratories, offices and a drive-thru garage/sally port for processing vehicles.

The Weld County Small Business Incentive Program continues to help small busines…

The Weld County Small Business Incentive Program continues to help small businesses in unincorporated Weld County thrive. Since the program began in 2014, a total of $123,608 has been distributed to eight businesses to help offset permitting fees. Facilitated by the Board of Commissioners and the Department of Planning, the Small Business Incentive Program was established with $500,000 from the county’s economic development fund in 2014. The program has provided businesses with $60,000 this year, and the commissioners believe it will help many more in the future.
